Family guide to new movie releases

'MA'

Rated R for violent/disturbing material, language throughout, sexual content, and for teen drug and alcohol use.

What it's about: A group of teens grow close to a woman who lets them party at her house, until the relationship turns obsessive and dangerous.

The kid attractor factor: Teens will be drawn to the horror-comedy genre.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Be careful who you accept booze from. Always be nice to others; you never know what will come back to haunt you.

Violence: Some extreme bloody images and body horror.

Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.

Sexuality: Frank references to sex, an onscreen sex act, full frontal male nudity.

Drugs: Onscreen marijuana use and drinking by teens.

Parents advisory: This is too mature for kids _ teens only!

'ROCKETMAN'

Rated R for language throughout, some drug use and sexual content.

What it's about: A wild and wooly rock musical about the life of Elton John.

The kid attractor factor: Kids who are fans of John's music may want to see the film.

Good lessons/bad lessons: The only true love is self-love. Always be yourself, uncompromisingly.

Violence: A suicide attempt and some intimate partner domestic violence.

Language: Strong language and swearing throughout.

Sexuality: Some graphic scenes of sexual intimacy.

Drugs: Plenty of onscreen drug use, including cocaine.

Parents advisory: This is a biopic of one of rock's biggest stars that doesn't sugarcoat the scandalous parts. If kids are fans of his music and can handle some sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, it could be quite inspiring and illuminating.
