Family guide to new movie releases

"THE MUMMY"

Rated PG-13 for violence, action and scary images, and for some suggestive content and partial nudity.

What it's about: An ancient evil Egyptian princess is brought out of her tomb to wreak havoc on present day London and Tom Cruise.

The kid attractor factor: The action-adventure genre, wild special effects and supernatural element.

Good lessons/bad lessons: There is good inside of everyone, and it's easy to make the right choice and put others first. On the other hand, death isn't always the end, but a new dimension of existence.

Violence: Lots of extreme violence: shooting, stabbing, plane crashes, extreme beatings and what could be termed a "kiss of death" _ sucking humans dry of life.

Language: None

Sexuality: Female nudity from behind, partial male nudity, suggestive sexual scenes and oblique references to sex.

Drugs: Drinking

Parents advisory: This film is almost more of an action-horror film than adventure. The creature effects and violence are truly scary and horrifying. OK for teens but too scary and mature for kids.
