Family guide to new movie releases

'GIFTED'

Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, language and some suggestive material.

What it's about: A family dramedy following the custody battle of an uncle and grandmother for guardianship of a 6-year-old math prodigy.

The kid attractor factor: Adorable moppet and star Mckenna Grace, as well as the sweet comic tone (and Captain America, himself, Chris Evans).

Good lessons/bad lessons: Follow your gut instincts and always keep your promises. Different and blended family units have their own unique qualities and can be just as strong and special. Childhood is a gift.

Violence: A few tantrums, nothing serious. A suicide theme/discussion throughout.

Language: A few instances of strong language.

Sexuality: A drunken hookup between uncle Frank and an elementary school teacher _ nothing graphic.

Drugs: None

Parents advisory: This should be fine. None of the more adult material is too strong for kids, and parents should be able to discuss some of the darker themes if necessary.
