Family guide to new movie releases

'THE SUICIDE SQUAD'

Rated R for strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use and brief graphic nudity.

What it’s about: A new chaotic crew of anti-heroes and supervillains are assembled for a black ops mission in the South American island nation of Corto Maltese.

The kid attractor factor: Teens will definitely be attracted to the comic genre, black comedy tone, stars and DC comics characters.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Ya gotta have friends, and never trust the U.S. government.

Violence: Lots of incredibly bloody gore and violence. Not for the faint of heart or squeamish.

Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.

Sex: Full frontal male and female nudity, a sex scene (not graphic), references to sex.

Drugs: Some drug use

Parents’ advisory: This is a very bloody, gory comic book film, not one to take your kids to! Maybe teens.

'NINE DAYS'

Rated R for language.

What it’s about: In an otherworldly realm, a man interviews souls in a selection process for life on earth.

The kid attractor factor:This is an adult drama. Not so much for kids.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Life is in the here and now, in every moment. Don't take that for granted.

Violence: A car wreck, bullying, personal conflicts.

Language: Some swearing and strong language

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: This is an adult drama that takes on existence itself. Not really for kids, but okay for teens and older kids if they're interested.
