'THE GENTLEMEN'
Rated R for violence, language throughout, sexual references and drug content.
What it's about: An American drug kingpin in England has to protect his operation from nefarious would-be investors and tabloid editors.
The kid attractor factor: Teens might be drawn to this bloody action-comedy, but not kids.
Good lessons/bad lessons: The king of the jungle often has to stay quiet, but sometimes he has to roar. Loyalty is the only moral code worth anything.
Violence: Some extreme violence, including shootings, beatings, poisoning, stabbing, machete fights.
Language: Strong language and swearing frequently.
Sex: References to sex and the threat of sexual violence, but nothing visually graphic.
Drugs: Well, it's about a weed dealer ... so there's quite a bit of on-screen marijuana use and references, and on-screen heroin use and references.
Parents' advisory: Far too violent for kids. Mature teens only.
'THE LAST FULL MEASURE'
Rated R for war violence, and language.
What it's about: The story of Vietnam war hero William Pitsenbarger's long-delayed Medal of Honor.
The kid attractor factor: This one's for adults _ kids won't be interested in this war drama.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Bearing witness to someone's trauma can be a powerful healing mechanism. Honoring the lives we lost gives them meaning.
Violence: Some gory war violence, shootings, wounded, bombing, etc.
Language: Some swearing.
Sex: None.
Drugs: None.
Parents' advisory: The war violence in this is a bit extreme and the themes mature, but it's OK for teens if they are interested.
