Family guide to new movie releases

'THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS'

Rated R for violence and some language.

What it’s about: This fourth installment of "The Matrix" sees Thomas Anderson, aka Neo, going back into the Matrix, and hoping to rescue his one true love, Trinity.

The kid attractor factor: Older kids and teens might be drawn to the action/adventure, especially if they have seen the previous films.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Fight for love, fight for what's right and always look for the opportunities to see outside the matrix.

Violence: Some extreme fighting, action and violence. Kung fu, martial arts, bloody fisticuffs and showdowns, peril, etc.

Language: Some strong language

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: Too violent for kids — appropriate for teens and adults.

'THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH'

Rated R for violence.

What it’s about: Joel Coen's spare, visually stunning adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play, with Denzel Washington in the titular role.

The kid attractor factor: Not much — this is more for adults, unless you have a Shakespeare-loving teen.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Be careful what you wish for (or what the witches prophesy).

Violence: This is a story about war, political assassinations and murder. There's gory violence, the murder of children, etc. It's violent.

Language: None

Sex: None

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: This classic piece of Shakespeare probably won't appeal to young kids, but could be illuminating for teens who are willing to engage with the material.
