'ELEMENTAL'

Rated PG for some peril, thematic elements and brief language.

What it’s about: In Element City, an unlikely love story unfolds, between water and fire.

The kid attractor factor: The animation and kid-friendly story.

Good lessons/bad lessons: One of the greatest gifts you can give a loved one is your own happiness. Being a "good daughter" means living your life to the fullest potential. Emotions are meant to be expressed.

Violence: Some perilous and dangerous situations.

Language: None, some suggestive language.

Sex: A chaste kiss.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: This family friendly film is beautiful and touching. A sweet love story appropriate for kids of all ages.

'THE BLACKENING'

Rated R for pervasive language, violence and drug use.

What it’s about: A group of friends gather for a college reunion weekend and test the trope — if all the characters in the horror movie are Black, who dies first?

The kid attractor factor: Not much — this horror comedy is pretty naughty.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Testing cultural currency can be a dangerous game.

Violence: A psycho, crossbow wielding killer stalks and attacks the group of friends, there is shooting, stabbing, fighting, etc.

Language: Strong language and swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex.

Drugs: Frequent onscreen drug use including MDMA, Adderrall and drinking.

Parents’ advisory: This is too mature for kids — teens and adults only.
