Family guide to new movie releases

'SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE'

Rated PG for frenetic sequences of animated action violence, thematic elements and mild language.

What it's about: An eye-popping animated film featuring newest Spider-Man Miles Morales and all of the other Spider-people from the other universes.

The kid attractor factor: The character, as well as the incredible and beautiful animation.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Believe in your own heroism; take a leap of faith. But don't forget your family and your friends who lift you up.

Violence: Some wild action scenes featuring violent, chasing, beating, explosions, shooting, etc.

Language: No strong swear words but some mature language.

Sexuality: None.

Drugs: None.

Parents advisory: This is great for kids of all ages, but it is probably too scary for the youngest ones.

'THE MULE'

Rated R for language throughout and brief sexuality/nudity.

What it's about: An 87-year-old horticulturist starts driving guns, money and drugs for a Mexican cartel.

The kid attractor factor: None at all.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Plead guilty if you did it.

Violence: Some threats of violence and shooting/murder.

Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.

Sexuality: Graphic nudity and implied sex.

Drugs: Visuals of cocaine packages and discussion of selling/trafficking drugs.

Parents advisory: No kids will be interested but this isn't one that's appropriate for kids. OK for teens.
