'GOOSEBUMPS 2: HAUNTED HALLOWEEN'
Rated PG for scary and intense creature action and images, and for some rude humor.
What it's about: A sequel to the popular "Goosebumps" adapted from R.L. Stine's popular horror books for kids.
The kid attractor factor: The kid stars, broad humor and PG spooks.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Save your family, save your town, you can do anything, even if you're a kid.
Violence: Some scary monster images, chases, attacks, etc., but nothing too gory or violent.
Language: None, some toilet humor.
Sexuality: A kiss between teens.
Drugs: None.
Parents advisory: Halloween fun for all ages. Too scary for the littlest ones though.
'THE OATH'
Rated R for language throughout, violence and some drug use.
What it's about: A family Thanksgiving is upended by arguments over whether or not to sign a government loyalty oath in this political satire.
The kid attractor factor: Younger/teen audiences may be drawn by the likes of comedian stars Ike Barinholtz and Tiffany Haddish, but this isn't quite the comedy they may expect.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Don't mix family and politics.
Violence: Things escalate into gory violence when a visit from a couple of government officers goes awry: punching, bludgeoning, shooting, etc. Very bloody.
Language: Swearing throughout.
Sexuality: References to sex.
Drugs: Some marijuana smoking.
Parents advisory: This is fine for teens, but too violent for kids (who probably won't be interested anyway).
