The kid attractor factor: The fantasy spectacle and young cast, plus a fresh new movie on Disney+.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Always seek the truth; listen to others; look out for each other.
Violence: Some highly CGI-ed and fantasy fighting and perilous situations, with trolls and fairies battling humans. Nothing gory.
Language: None _ some body humor and visual flatulence.
Sex: None.
Drugs: None.
Parents' advisory: A fine afternoon watch for kids, but some of the violence will be too scary for the littlest ones.
'THE KING OF STATEN ISLAND'
Rated R for language and drug use throughout, sexual content and some violence/bloody images.
What it's about: A 24-year-old burnout on Staten Island ponders what to do with his life while working through grief about his dead father.
The kid attractor factor: Teens and younger audiences may be drawn in to by star Pete Davidson.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Face your fears; face your demons; work through it; be vulnerable, and you'll come out on the other side.
Violence: Some shooting during a robbery, as well as some clumsy fisticuffs.
Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.
Sex: Sex scenes and kissing (no nudity) and frequent references to sex.
Drugs: Onscreen marijuana use, discussion of cocaine, drug-dealing and drug robberies, multiple references to doing drugs.
Parents' advisory: This sensitive dramedy deals with many adult themes like drugs, sex and grief, but it deals with those mature issues in a humanist way. OK for teens, but too adult for kids.
