Family guide to new movie releases

"POWER RANGERS"

Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, language, and for some crude humor.

What it's about: An update of the favorite 1990s series about a group of teens who fight fantastical monsters.

The kid attractor factor: The young stars and action-adventure storyline will draw teens and tweens.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Power comes from your friends and your team. Always put the team before the individual. You can do bad things but not be a bad person _ live the life you want to live.

Violence: There are some high school hallway scuffles, some moments of danger and peril, training montages with punches, kicks and slams, and of course, a wild monster showdown at the end of the film. No gore or blood.

Language: A few instances of swearing and suggestive jokes.

Sexuality: A remorseful discussion about sharing a friend's nude photo with classmates, a vague discussion about sexual orientation.

Drugs: None

Parents advisory: Fine for teens and older kids, too violent for the youngest kids.
