'STAR TREK BEYOND'
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and violence.
What it's about: The Enterprise crew is stranded on a dangerous, remote planet and has to band together to get back and save home.
The kid attractor factor: The long-running sci-fi series will inevitably draw fans and anyone who loves space-based action adventure.
Good lessons/bad lessons: The group is stronger than the individual, but everyone contributes their unique talents. Struggle isn't necessary to be strong.
Violence: Lots of fisticuffs, combat and shooting with laser guns, as well as perilous flying sequences, but nothing graphic or gory.
Language: A couple of instances of strong language, played for a laugh.
Sexuality: Just the on-off relationship of Spock and Uhura, but they don't even share a kiss.
Drugs: Good scotch
Parents advisory: Definitely fine for teens and older kids, but the action will prove to be too intense and scary for the younger ones.
