Family guide to new movie releases

"CHIPS"

Rated R for crude sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language, some violence and drug use.

What it's about: A reboot of the '70s TV show about California Highway Patrol officers.

The kid attractor factor: The raunchy action comedy will draw teen audiences for sure.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Always save someone when you can, your partner is more important than personal glory. Be a good friend. Don't sext your boss.

Violence: Lots of high speed chases, crashes, explosions, shootings, and fisticuffs. One brutal beheading.

Language: Strong swearing and sexual jokes throughout.

Sexuality: Multiple instances of male and female nudity, a graphic sex scene, sexting, graphic discussions of sex acts.

Drugs: A bad guy is a heroin user and purchases drugs at a crack house.

Parents advisory: Way too sexually explicit for kids. Fine for older teens.
