'JUSTICE LEAGUE'
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action.
What it's about: DC Comics superheroes (Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman et al) team up to battle world-conquering space monsters.
The kid attractor factor: The familiarity with the superhero characters, as well as the action-adventure-superhero genre.
Good lessons/bad lessons: You can be stronger as a team than alone.
Violence: Lots of CGI-drenched battles against the alien warlord and his army of flying space dudes, with swords, guns, tridents, axes, arrows and more. Very violent, some deaths, no blood.
Language: Some insinuation but no real strong language.
Sexuality: Aside from comments tossed toward Wonder Woman by her male co-workers, none.
Drugs: None.
Parents advisory: A dark and violent superhero movie with plenty of bloodless violence. Teens and older kids OK.
'WONDER'
Rated PG for thematic elements including bullying, and some mild language.
What it's about: A boy with a facial deformity starts school for the first time in fifth grade.
The kid attractor factor: The child stars and family-oriented story.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Choose kindness, stand up for others, be a good friend, your deeds define you.
Violence: A couple of schoolyard type rumbles, taunting, name-calling and bullying.
Language: Mild language and scatological humor.
Sexuality: Some teen kissing.
Drugs: None .
Parents advisory: This might not appeal to kids right away, but it's a heartwarming and fun story with a great message about being a good person and a good friend. Would be a nice family movie. Probably too advanced for very small children.
