'AQUAMAN'
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language.
What it's about: The oceangoing DC Comics character gets his own stand-alone film, straddling life on the surface and turmoil in the undersea kingdom of Atlantis.
The kid attractor factor: The big, bold, bright aquatic adventure will be a draw for younger audiences, including kids.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Always be yourself, even if that self seems caught between two worlds.
Violence: Several intense fight and chase sequences _ with high-tech pirates, fantastical sea creatures, laser-eyed Black Manta and more. Fighting, shooting, stabbing, destruction, etc. but nothing too gory.
Language: A few instances of swearing/strong language.
Sexuality: A prolonged kiss.
Drugs: Strong beer.
Parents advisory: This is a fun underwater comic adventure spectacle that will please the whole family, but it's too scary for littler kids.
'BUMBLEBEE'
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action violence.
What it's about: The cuddliest Transformer of all, Bumblebee, gets his own '80s-set origin story.
The kid attractor factor: The young stars, comedy and action spectacle will draw kids and teens.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Always stick up for your loved ones, but learn to let them go, too.
Violence: Several action/fight scenes between Bumblebee and the Decepticons.
Language: None.
Sexuality: Some flirtation.
Drugs: None.
Parents advisory: This is family-friendly and a fun Transformers flick that will appeal to all ages _ just too violent for the youngest kids.
