Family guide to new movie releases

'MIDDLE SCHOOL: THE WORST YEARS OF MY LIFE'

Rated PG for rude humor throughout, language and thematic elements.

What it's about: An artsy middle schooler rebels against the strict rules at his new school.

The kid attractor factor: The kid-friendly story, stars and comedy are kid catnip.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Rules should be broken, don't stifle creativity, stand up to tyranny when you see it.

Violence: A fender bender in a BMW driven by a child, a chase scene with a motor cart, some animated violence and a few harmless pratfalls.

Language: Some mild toilet humor, references to "boobs," some references to swearing without actual swearing ("what does suck rhyme with?")

Sexuality: A kiss between middle schoolers, an obvious crush, mention of a date between the tweens, stepdad flirting with the waitress.

Drugs: None

Parents advisory: This fun-filled romp has a few mature moments but is appropriate for kids of all ages.
