Family guide to new movie releases

'BOOKSMART'

Rated R for strong sexual content and language throughout, drug use and drinking _ all involving teens.

What it's about: Two teenage best friends decide to let their hair down for one last night before graduation.

The kid attractor factor: Teen girls will be drawn to the young stars, high school setting and comedy.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Be an ally, not an enemy. Celebrate your friends and yourself everyday. See people for who they are, not the gossip and nicknames.

Violence: None.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sexuality: Frank discussions of sex, masturbation, teen kissing/groping, brief nudity, a brief sex scene.

Drugs: Onscreen drug use and references to drugs, teenage drinking.

Parents advisory: While this has a lot of language, this funny and fierce female friendship story is appropriate for older kids and teens.

'ALADDIN'

Rated PG for some action/peril.

What it's about: A thief falls in love with a princess and uses his three wishes from a genie to get closer to her.

The kid attractor factor: Familiarity with the animated film, as well as the colorful musical genre.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Be yourself, power corrupts, look out for others, and don't lie_there's no easy way fix or easy way out.

Violence: Some chase scenes, threatening, etc.

Language: None.

Sexuality: A chaste kiss.

Drugs: None.

Parents advisory: A fun film for the whole family.
