Family guide to new movie releases

'DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA'

Rated PG for some suggestive references, language and thematic elements.

What it’s about: The Crawley crew welcomes a film crew to the estate, and untangles the mystery of the French villa willed to the Dowager Countess by a long lost beau.

The kid attractor factor: Kids and teens who go for period dramas will have a blast with this.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Embracing change doesn't mean you can't keep the memories alive.

Violence: None

Language: None

Sex: Some heavily veiled references to sex and sexuality.

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: A very chaste and mannered period piece. A good entry point into the genre for younger audiences.

'MEN'

Rated R for disturbing and violent content, graphic nudity, grisly images and language.

What it’s about: A woman seeks refuge in the English countryside after a traumatic loss in her life, only to find that the inhabitants of the village are a menacing, mysterious bunch.

The kid attractor factor: This is a cerebral horror film about trauma with some extreme imagery — it's not for kids in the least.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Hmm ... don't go on vacation alone?

Violence: There is some extreme gory imagery and body horror style violence. Some things you cannot unsee.

Language: Some swearing throughout.

Sex: Graphic nudity

Drugs: None

Parents’ advisory: The themes and images undertaken in "Men" are extreme for adults. Not appropriate for kids of any age.
