'THE CRAFT: LEGACY'
Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, crude and sexual content, language and brief drug material.
What it's about: This reboot of the witchy '90s hit follows a group of four high school girls as they explore the magical world of witchcraft.
The kid attractor factor: The uber-cool teen witches and stars will be a draw for younger female audiences.
Good lessons/bad lessons: We're stronger together in fighting the forces of evil.
Violence: One sort of mildly perilous climatic scene, an off-screen death and funeral, otherwise, none.
Language: Some swearing and discussion of sex.
Sex: A reference to a used condom, teens hooking up at a party, passionate kissing.
Drugs: Drug paraphernalia referenced and seen on screen.
Parents' advisory: For tweens and teenagers, it's appropriate, the mature content is very high school, and fairly mild in its depiction. It's an empowering story for young women, and men. For younger kids, it's too mature.
'COME PLAY'
Rated PG-13 for terror, frightening images and some language.
What it's about: A nonverbal autistic boy discovers a supernatural creature unleashed by his digital devices.
The kid attractor factor: The young star and a PG-13 horror film that will appeal as a gateway to the horror genre for younger fans.
Good lessons/bad lessons: Find connection in people, not devices. Look up and see the world around you. We are our own cure for loneliness.
Violence: Some scary and perilous chase sequences and suspense with the digital monster.
Language: Some strong language.
Sex: None.
Drugs: None.
Parents' advisory: Definitely too scary for little kids, but for older kids and teens experimenting with horror, this is a good option. It's not too gory or mature in content, and with a young hero has a very childlike perspective.
