Family and friends of six men who died in a trawler accident off Queensland's coast have said a final goodbye at a memorial held at Bundaberg Marina in southern Queensland.
It was an emotional Saturday morning as about 40 people gathered just a short distance from the salvaged trawler Dianne.
The Dianne sank in a storm off the coast of the Town of Seventeen Seventy last October and only one of the seven men on board survived.
The bodies of four of the six men who died were never found.
The families of the other four men were told on Friday that no remains had been found during the search of the salvaged trawler, which was brought into the port of Bundaberg on Tuesday.
Family and friends flew from across the country today to lay flowers and share memories of their loved ones.
They had asked to be left alone by the media.
It will be the last time they see the Dianne.
Once police have finished investigations, the trawler will be handed to the insurance company.
Next week it is expected that work will begin to dismantle the boat.
Some parts from the trawler will be kept and handed to the families of the crew as well as museums, while some parts will also be placed at memorial sites.
Gladstone Inspector Darren Somerville, who has been involved in the investigation from the beginning, was among those attending the service conducted by a police chaplain.
"Four months has gone by. It's good for some closure for the families to be here with the vessel and the service was very, very moving," he said.
"It's had a big effect on a lot of the police involved and emergency services and also volunteer services.
"Police still have a job to do to put the investigation before the coroner, so it's not closed yet."
