Family Fortunes: Northern Ireland family shine on first episode of new series

A family from Ballymoney are among the first families to appear on the newly rebooted series of ITV's Family Fortunes.

The Fosters - who have already made quite a buzz online with their hilarious viral Tik Tok videos - will appear on the first episode of the new series, which airs on ITV at 8pm on Sunday.

Rachel Foster, who appears on the show alongside her mum, two brothers and younger sister, said that ITV were keen for her family to appear on the show, having seen their clips.

"I would've had a bit of a following on Tik Tok and Instagram and I knew people were enjoying the videos we were doing as a family," Rachel added. "ITV had said to me that we were exactly the type of people they were looking for."

As the manager of a cafe in Ballymoney, as well as a worker in a Ballycastle, Rachel is a self-confessed workaholic along the North Coast.

However, she said that she was able to let her hair down when she and her family jetted over to the studio.

"It was a fantastic experience having the opportunity for all the family to go over there," she said. "We had such a fun day of filming, and of course we all went out partying afterwards."

It's a game show famous for causing family arguments and disputes. Did that feature in the Foster family's experience?

"Oh absolutely!" Rachel laughed. "In the clip they released ahead of the show, you can see my mum is asked by Gino who her favourite child is and she says it's my brother Andrew - we were raging!"

And after the experience, is Rachel looking for a TV career in the future?

"I haven't really thought about it," she said. "But people have said to me in the past that I should be on the TV. Sure if it's for me, it won't pass me by!"

For the moment, she's looking forward to viewers seeing her family's unforgettable appearance on the show.

She added: "I'm really looking forward to people watching this and really happy we all took part. I got to get up and teach Gino to do an Irish dance at one stage, and there was more than a few silly answers in there, which were such a laugh. And it ended up being such a tight competition between us and the other family until the very end, so it's well worth a watch!"

The new Family Fortunes will keep the classic features of the original that audiences know and love, with the families playing for the chance to win single, double and of course, ‘big money’ through the game play - as well as the added bonus of winning additional prizes along the way.

Watch the Fosters on Family Fortunes, hosted by Gino D'Acampo, on September 20 at 8pm on ITV.
