'Family for life' - Daniel Sturridge sends emotional message to Liverpool fans

Daniel Sturridge has sent an emotional message of thanks to Liverpool fans.

Sturridge spent six-and-a-half years with the Reds from 2013-19, during which time he scored 68 goals in 160 appearances.

Despite being a fan favourite at Anfield, Sturridge struggled with injuries during his spell on Merseyside.

After a brief loan spell with West Brom in 2018, Sturridge would leave Liverpool a year later and went on to join Trabzonspor on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since March 2020, and was most recently on trial with Spanish club Real Mallorca while waiting for a new home.

Today (Wednesday) is Sturridge’s birthday, and it has led to several social media posts paying tribute to the former Liverpool striker.

Sturridge responded to one featuring a video compilation of his time at Anfield, sending a message of gratitude to Liverpool fans.

“Honestly so many memories at LFC,” wrote Sturridge.

“Really can’t thank the club and fans enough for the love you have all showed me. Family for life”
