Family dog Dolly reunited with family after being found at suspect puppy farm

A little dog seized from a suspected puppy farm, has been reunited with her family more than 100 miles away in a different county.

Dolly the Jack Russell vanished from her home last February and almost 10 months later on October 22, she was one of a number of dogs seized by police investigating suspected puppy farming in Co Tipperary.

Now Dolly has been reunited with her family and is back home and safe in Mullingar in Co Westmeath after an emotional reunion in a police a Tipperary police station.

A spokesperson for the Gardai said yesterday: “We have an update on on animals seized in Clonmel on the 22nd October and a good news story for this chilly Thursday. Clonmel Gardaí and the ISPCA have today reunited Dolly with her rightful owners.

“Public assistance along with joint Garda and ISPCA enquiries identified a possible owner. This lead to a positive confirmation and today Dolly has been reunited with her family who travelled down from Mullingar to collect her.

"The investigation in relation to this case is on-going. If you have any queries you can contact the ISPCA directly or the Clonmel Gardai by email at clonmel.community@garda.ie.”

Dolly was one of 18 dogs and cats removed from an address during a police and animal welfare raid in October.

Clonmel Gardaí and detective from Clonmel Garda Station along with ISPCA Inspectors were targeting serious breaches of the Animal Health and Welfare Act, 2013.

All the animals were taken into the proper care of the ISPCA including adult dogs, some of them pregnant, and puppies such as Chihuahuas, Pugs, Bichon Frise and terriers.

The seizure was made shortly after 11am on October 22 and one male was arrested by Gardaí at the scene for obstructing the search.
