Family distraught after 48-year-old woman found dead in Aberystwyth

Tributes have been paid to a woman who was found dead at a house in Ceredigion.

Marie Lena Gilmore, who was 48, died at the property in Rhydybont - a residential street in the Penparcau area of Aberystwyth - on Thursday.

Police were called to the address shortly before 9pm, having been requested to attend by the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out, but at this stage the death is still being treated as “unexplained”.

Mrs Gilmore’s family has paid tribute to her.

A statement issued by the family said: “As a family we are distraught by our loss and Marie will be missed by all.

“We would like to thank family and friends for their support which has meant so much to the whole family, however we would now like time to grieve and would ask to be given privacy in which to do so.”

Dyfed-Powys Police said 40-year-old Michael Brian Parker, of no fixed address, was arrested at the property in Rhydybont on Thursday.

He was charged with breaching a restraining order and appeared at Llanelli Magistrates Court on Saturday, where he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the investigation into the circumstances of the death is ongoing.

“Our thoughts remain with the family at this sad time.”
