Proud homeowner Karen Welstead is tickled pink with her house and is hoping the rest of Scotland will be too.
Her Georgian villa, painted a unique shade of blush, is in the running for the country’s best home.
And it’s not just the outside of the Stirlingshire country pad that’s colourful.
Inside Karen, 43, has installed a pink Aga, a bright orange pool table and a neon-lit secret gin bar.
The mum-of-three, who runs a recruitment firm with husband Matt, 43, said: “We all love bright cheery colours so it makes sense we now live in a pink house. There is a splash of colour in every room.
“The baby pink Aga is my pride and joy and the bright orange pool table is another one of my favourite purchases. I found it on Gumtree and a friend of our builders refurbished it.
“The games room with its abstract wallpaper is a hit with everyone who visits the house and was a godsend during lockdown as you felt like you were down the pub.”
“I was delighted when I discovered the hidden butler’s pantry and as a bit of fun we decided to turn it into a hideaway gin bar which gets a lot of use when my friends are around. There is nothing formal about the house we wanted it to be a fun place to live in.”
The Welstead's stunning period property will be showcased on Wednesday night’s episode of the hit BBC series Scotland’s Home of The Year.
The vibrant, yet tasteful, house sits on 26 acres of land and is a massive hit with judges Anna Campbell-Jones, Kate Spiers and Michael Angus.
Karen, who also has her own home styling and design consultancy business, said: “Being the very last house is a bit nerve wracking. We have no idea what the judges made of it so it will be exciting to hear their opinions. I hope they like it.”
