Family concerned after Ayrshire teen vanished almost a week ago

The family of a missing Ayrshire teenager are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Jennifer Barclay was last seen at Saltcoats railway station boarding a train to Glasgow Central around 10.40am on Tuesday, July 20, and has not been seen or heard of since.

The 19-year-old from Ardrossan is described as being 5ft 9in tall, of a slim build, a fair complexion with long auburn-coloured hair.

Police acknowledge that it's possible Jennifer could have got off at any stop between Saltcoats and Glasgow.

Sergeant Lana Grant of Irvine police office said: “Along with her family, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Jennifer’s welfare and are keen to locate her as soon as possible.

“It is known that she got on a train at Saltcoats train station which was heading to Glasgow Central, however, it is possible that she got off the train at any stop in-between.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen her to contact us immediately. Similarly, if Jennifer is reading this, let us know you are safe and well.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2353 of 20 July.
