A family with five generations of women, separated by 89 years from oldest to youngest, have been able to finally get together after lockdown.
Riley Lowe, now 16 months old, joins a long line of women in her family from Nottingham – headed by her 90 year old great, great gran Eileen.
She can now finally get to know her long list of all female relatives a bit better.
Asher Peck, a first time mum, said: “Everyone knew I was going to have a girl, but she kept us waiting and at our 20 week scan nurses couldn’t be sure so we didn’t actually find out until I was 28 weeks that I was carrying the fifth generation female.
“But everyone was more than confident she was going to be a girl.”
Riley has her gran Michelle, 44, great gran Catherine, 66 and her great great gran, Eileen 90, to look up to for advice.
The female support doesn't end there as she also has three aunties as mum Asher is the eldest of four girls.
Asher, a 23-year-old psychotherapy student added: “I am so glad that restrictions are now easing and we can come together as a family again.
"We are such a close knit family and we do everything together including big holidays and I can’t wait for Riley to be part of that.”
Great Gran Eileen was fortunately able to meet Riley who was born in January 2020 just before the lockdown.
But due to her frail health and age, she hasn’t seen her in over a year.
She is thrilled with another female in the family saying: “Women rule in our family, they always have.”
During lockdown the eldest and youngest in the family kept in touch online.
Asher added: “We were very lucky that Riley could briefly meet her great gran in person and since then she asks about her all the time, she feels very lucky to be here to meet her and she adores watching how fast she is growing up.
“My whole family is amazing, my sisters are devoted to my daughter - their first niece.”
“My mum Michelle and my gran, Catherine are also besotted, Riley is the their first grandchild and great grandchild and they can’t get enough of her.”
The close knit family live just a few minutes from each other and because of their tight bond they found lockdown really tough.
Asher said: “I live just two minutes from my mum and less than 10 minutes from the rest of my family. We can’t go a week without seeing each other so it has been so hard to isolate – especially as a first time mum.
“We have been on FaceTime every day and my nan and great nan have got a lot better with technology in the last year.
“My grandma Catherine has a new phone so she can Facetime us and thankfully we have recently been able to go out on walks together.
“I love that we are all girls, we do get comments when we are all together, we do realise how rare it is to have five generations of females and I feel very lucky to be part of my family.
”I feel very blessed that Riley has been born into such a supportive, all female family. She will have plenty of advice and support when she gets older."
