Family car stolen, destroyed and then dumped by thieves

Shocking pictures show a family car smashed to pieces after it was stolen.

The vehicle, a silver Renault, had been stolen from the Cwmavon area on March 23.

On March 29 it was found off the A4107 Bwlch-y-Clawdd Road, Treorchy.

Despite searching the area, police said they were not able to locate the driver.

They are now appealing for information.

Passerby Carl Rees noticed the car on his morning run and said it had landed on a very steep ditch off the side of the road and was in bits.

He said the car was "impacted all round" with bumpers and other car parts up to 60 yards from the car.

A spokeswoman from South Wales Police said: "We were made aware of a car down off the A4107 Bwlch-y-Clawdd Road at about 5.40pm on 29 March.

"A search was made of the area to trace any driver but no one was located.

"The car was confirmed as having been stolen from the Cwmavon area on 23 March.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting occurrence 2000107136."
