Family 'broken' by dad's 'foolish' actions as daughter killed in crash

A 'broken' family said a dad's 'foolish actions' led to the death of him and his 13-year-old daughter.

Daniel Roberts and his daughter Lacie Jade Roberts were killed when his BMW smashed into LyonsDen Fitness in Flintshire at around 2.30am on April 22. Three other people were seriously injured in the crash and police are appealing for any witnesses or those who have dashcam footage to come forward.

Lacie's family have said her dad Daniel, was meant to "protect her from harm" not "endanger her life", North Wales Live reports. Flint High School pupil, Lacie, was described as a "little angel" by her grieving mum, Kieley Messham, who was separated from Daniel.

In a tribute, she said: "I love her so much, I need her back. I just need her to be OK.. life will never be right again." An inquest has now opened into their deaths.

Lacie's aunty, Louise Messham has set up a fundraising page to help mum-of-five, Kieley, give Lacie 'the best' send off. Posting about the crash on the tribute page, she wrote: "The crash killed two people, they were father and daughter and it also seriously injured three others.

"Our beautiful Lacie Jade Roberts has been cruelly taken from us far too soon. You don't expect for this to happen to your family but this time it has, we are really struggling to come to terms with it. We have setup this funding page to help Lacie's mum cover the cost of a funeral for her beautiful, bubbly baby, with the prettiest green eyes you would ever see.

"Our family as you could imagine are broken and shocked at the foolish actions of Daniel that morning, the person who was meant to protect her from any harm, not endanger her life and take her away from us. What he has done to us as a family is beyond any pain or hurt we could ever of imagined."

The fundraising page has already exceeded its target and raised more than £9,000. In a tribute, Lacie's mum, Kieley said: "I can't express in words just how amazing Lacie was, I really can't. She has always been the biggest wind-up merchant in our home but in the best of ways, Lacie just loved making people laugh. Saying that, she found herself hilarious, too.

"I'd do anything to hear that laugh again, literally anything. She had so much about her and I wish I could pour it all out but no words will bring her back home to me, and to us.

"She is loved and forever will be. I never want to not hear her name, and I'll try and keep memories of Lacie alive - whether that be crying or laughing, she will be remembered.

"I cannot get my head around any of this, no mother should have to. Lacie - I'm sorry, I'm lost for words, you're one-of-a-kind and no number of words can express how broken we are that your life was snatched away.

"We all love you and will miss you daily, until we meet again, my mini me - I love you so, so much."
