Family board games and phone apps perfect to play on Christmas Day

Christmas is all about having fun with family and friends.

There is nothing better on Christmas night than sitting down to relax with a game and some festive treats.

We've put together some board games perfect to play with family, with one to suit all ages.

But if you don't have time to get out and about to buy one, there are also some great phone apps for you to try.

Trivial Pursuit Family Edition, £21.99 at Smyths

The family edition Trivial Pursuit gameplay has cards for kids and adults.

It features 1,200 trivia questions in six categories and is designed for three to six players.

This second edition of the Logo board game has a whole new set of cards.

Answer questions about iconic logos to leap around the board. The playing team answers four colour coded questions.

With each right answer, the team moves to the next board space in that colour. The first team to answer correctly in the centre zone wins.

The aim of this game is to describe a phrase without actually saying it.

In this general knowledge game, players have 30 seconds to describe five names on their chosen card.

From landmarks to TV shows, celebrities to politicians, players will be kept on their toes and have to describe their card without saying the actual words or using any 'sounds like' or rhyming tactics.

Minimum of 4 players.
