Family behind Nottinghamshire theme park Sundown Adventureland make ‘hard decision’ to close

The family behind Nottinghamshire’s much-loved theme park for under 10s, Sundown Adventureland, have made the “hard decision” to close its gates.

Gaynor Corr, director of the park near Retford, which was founded by her parents in the 60s, made the announcement today (Friday, March 20) in light of the social distancing measures set out by the Government following the coronavirus outbreak.

She said: “We are very sorry to say Sundown Adventureland will close from 4pm on Friday, March 20 until further notice.

“We would like to thank all our team members for all their support during this uncertain time. We look forward to welcoming all our loyal guests back for some adventure and fun in the future.”

Staff at the park, of which 70 percent of the workforce is related in some way, will not be able to receive phone calls at the moment but have said all Facebook messages and emails will be answered within seven working days.

All Sundown Fun Passes will be extended for the amount of time the park will be closed. All pre-booked tickets will be converted into a credit to use against any booking within the next 12 months.
