Family ate dinner downstairs while criminals climbed their drain pipe

A family ate dinner together while burglars climbed their drain pipe and raided their home.

Between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday, November 18, a family was eating dinner downstairs when three men entered their garden. Two men waited outside, while another climbed a drainpipe and gained entry to the property through the upstairs window.

Once the man had gained access to the property, on Firs Lane in Warrington, he performed a search and took what police called "a quantity of high value jewellery." The offenders are believed to have then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police have since opened an investigation into the matter and officers have asked anyone who might have any information to get in touch.

Detective constable Rob Catterall, of Cheshire Police, said: "Burglary is a particularly distressing crime where victims are targeted in their own home, a place where they should feel most safe.

"I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish the identities of these criminals and bring them to justice. A number of enquiries are underway to find those responsible for this incident and as part of my investigation I would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident.

"The same goes for anyone who may have CCTV footage or dashcam footage from around the Firs Lane, Field Lane and Windmill Lane areas of Appleton around the time of the incident."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire police here, or to call 101 quoting 1416037. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111 or at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/give-information-anonymously.
