Family ask mourners to wear bright clothes to funeral of young Dublin soccer star Samuel Roquette

Mourners have been asked to wear bright clothing at the funeral of a talented young soccer star.

Under-12 player Samuel Roquette, from Stillorgan in south Dublin, passed away on Friday, December 13, peacefully in the loving arms of his family.

He will be laid to rest on Tuesday.

Cabinteely FC have led the tributes to the promising youngster as they held a minute's silence at Saturday's games.

The club said on Twitter this afternoon: "It is with deepest regret and sadness that all of us at @Cabinteely_FC offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Roquette Family on the passing of their darling Samuel. He was a member of our DDSL U-12 Saturday C1 team."

"Our thoughts and sympathies are with Benjamin, Louise, Abigail and Antoine during this very tragic time.

"As a mark of respect to Samuel and his loving family, there was a minute's silence held at this morning's games at Kilbogget Park. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam."

A funeral notice on RIP.ie reads: "Cherished son of Louise and Benjamin; and beloved brother of Abigail and Antoine.

"Deeply regretted by his heart-broken grandparents Deirdre and Kevin Kinlen and Marie–Hélène and Etienne Roquette, his uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and many friends especially those in Monkstown Educate Together, Blackrock A.C., Cabinteely F.C. and Rathfarnham Concert Band."

Samuel's funeral will be held on Tuesday 17, at 11am in Monkstown Parish Church, followed by private burial.

The family home will be strictly private.

The notice added: "Family flowers only, please, donations, if desired, may be made to Blood Bikes East ( www.bloodbikeseast.ie).

"It is the family’s wish for bright clothing to be worn."
