Family and friends pay tribute to 'selfless and caring' teenager who died after crash

Sharlene Urosevic was ready to begin her adult life, starting with a road trip across Queensland to celebrate the end of her final year of school.

The 18-year-old Burrum Heads woman was a passenger in a car that crashed at Iveragh, south-east of Gladstone on November 21.

Initial investigations indicate the four-wheel drive veered onto the wrong side of the Bruce Highway, losing control, and rolling several times.

Ms Urosevic was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and died from her injuries after 19 days on life support.

Another 18-year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Ms Urosevic is being remembered as a bright, warm-hearted young woman with her whole life ahead of her.

Her sister Jaydene Urosevic called their bond a blessing.

"My sister has always been a selfless and caring person," Ms Urosevic posted to social media.

"It's beautiful to see her life has been filled with like-minded people who adore her as much as we do."

Loved ones have described her as one-of-a-kind, expressing love and condolences to her family and friends.

Almost $10,000 raised for grieving family

An online fundraiser organised by friend of the family, Natasha Smith, has raised almost $10,000 for Ms Urosevic's grieving family

The teenager's former high school Riverside Christian College in Maryborough shared the fundraiser page, sending support to the Urosevic family.

Ms Urosevic's mother was overseas during the time of the car crash and the money from the fundraiser was used to assist in flight costs.

Ms Smith described Ms Urosevic as a sweet daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin, a loving sister, girlfriend, and a special friend.

"Sharlene's family's lives have changed in an instant and will never be the same," Ms Smith said.

Police are continuing to investigate the car crash and are appealing to travellers for dashcam footage if they were in the Gladstone or Iveragh areas between 10am and 10.30am on the morning of the crash.
