Families return to ruins after Texas flooding that left dozens dead

The disaster, which struck on Friday, has claimed at least 78 lives, with rescuers still searching for dozens more, including 10 girls and a camp counsellor.

In Kerr County alone, 68 bodies have been recovered, 28 of them children.

Regan Brown walked through what was left of his parents’ home in Hunt. His parents, both in their 80s, escaped the rising waters and helped rescue a 92-year-old neighbour trapped in her attic.

Officials say 41 people remain unaccounted for across Texas. With more rain forecast, officials warned of continuing risk as crews press on through difficult terrain.
