Two families have appealed for more information into the murder of a couple whose dismembered bodies were discovered last month by teeangers making a TikTok video.
The bodies of 35-year-old Jessica Lewis and 27-year-old Austin ‘Cash’ Wenner washed-up on Seattle’s Alki Beach on June 19.
Teeangers at the beach located a suitcase which contained the couple’s limbs and other body parts, and phoned police.
That was captured in a video posted to TikTok, which the teens had been in the process of filming when they discovered the suitcase.
The King County Medical Examiner determined that both Lewis and Wenner had been shot some days before their remains were found, KIRO7 reported.
FBI sources told the news station that someone could have wanted to make a statement with the murder.
Gina Jaschke, who launched an appeal on GoFundMe to locate Lewis’s – her niece – and Wenner’s murderer, commented on the FBI statement to KIRO7.
“If they’re trying to send a message, what are they saying? That they’re animals? That’s the only message that you’ve gotten out to anybody!”, said Ms Jaschke
“Jessica & Cash were good-hearted people. She leaves behind 4 beautiful children. Their parents and family are heartbroken beyond words. Along with countless friends and loved ones,” she added.
“Somebody knows something, and whoever helps solved this case will receive the money raised for their reward”.
The campaign, which has a $10,000 (£7,907) target, has seen $1,300 (£1,028) in donations.
