Families in 'brilliant spirits' despite queuing for hours to pick pumpkins at Avon Valley

Hundreds of people were in 'brilliant spirits' despite queuing for hours at a pumpkin patch in Somerset.

Every weekend in October and all through half-term, families can pick their own pumpkins at Avon Valley between Bristol and Bath.

With more than 15,000 pumpkins to choose from, the farm attracted streams of people the weekend before Halloween, Somerset Live reports.

This led to lengthy queues of several hours for some but many refused to let the long delays dampen the Halloween spirit.

Ed MacGowan, of Kingswood, Bristol, said: "After queuing to get in, we couldn’t believe the length of the queue to pay for our pumpkins and leave.

"But the experience was worth all the hanging around, pumpkin picking is becoming a real annual Halloween tradition in this part of the world and everyone was in brilliant spirits. We’ll be back next year."

Once those visiting the farm got in, they were then faced with another queue to pay for their pumpkins and then again to leave the pumpkin patch.

Ed left the farm at around 1.45pm on Sunday and said that he waited for around an hour in a queue of at least 200 people to get out.
