Families evacuated from cinema - just as Timon and Pumbaa found Simba and Spider-Man was about to get exciting

Dozens of families were evacuated mid-film after a fire alarm reportedly went off at a cinema in Bolton.

Several restaurants at Middlebrook Leisure Park are also understood to have been emptied as a precaution.

Photos show crowds of people gathered outside the Vue Cinema on Sunday afternoon.

Many people had been enjoying films such as The Lion King and Spiderman when they were asked to leave.

One film buff tweeted: "Vue cinema in Bolton being evacuated literally as Spider-Man was getting to the best part. Sound."

Another posted: "Evacuated from Vue Cinemas Bolton just as Pumbaa and Timon found Simba."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue confirmed they did receive a call to the leisure park just after 4.20pm.

Crews did not attend after it was deemed to be a false alarm.

It's understood people were let back inside the cinema after around 45 minutes.
