Mum Shannon said: “I actually applied late as I’ve recently given birth in January to my daughter Saskia.

“The process was excellent, very easy to apply and application process went smoothly.

“I was notified of the decision as soon as possible – the day before we were due to find out – which was brilliant.”

Compared to 2020 – the number of families offered a place at their first choice primary school for their children has gone up.

Last year, 2,542 children were offered places at their first choice schools – 88pc of children.

This year, 111 children were given places at their second choice school, compared to 198 in 2020.

And 25 children were given places at their third choice school, compared to 69 last year.

No children missed out on a place altogether. Last year, 16 children weren’t allocated a place.

The number of children applying for school places across the borough dipped slightly this year.

A total of 2,740 children asked for a place at one of Trafford’s primaries – in 2020 that number stood at 2,885.

A spokesperson for Trafford council said: “Trafford council is delighted that 94pc of Trafford families received their first choice for primary school places this year.

“We pride ourselves on making sure as many children as possible go to the school that is first on their list. Thanks go to the School Admissions team for all their hard work.”
