NEW YORK _ Jeurys Familia looked as rusty in his second appearance as he did in his first.
A day after walking two batters in his first game back with the Mets, Familia walked two more on Friday.
The second free pass Familia issued cost his team the game.
The right-hander walked in a run in the 11th inning to send the Mets to a 4-3 loss to the Nationals in front of 34,773 at Citi Field.
This was the first time the Mets and Nationals have played this season, and it was the first of six games the National League East rivals will play within the next 10 days.
"He just didn't throw the ball over the plate, which is pretty uncharacteristic of him," manager Terry Collins said of Familia.
With one out in the 11th, Bryce Harper doubled to left off Josh Smoker. Harper went to third on a wild pitch.
Smoker intentionally walked Daniel Murphy. Collins brought in Familia, who walked Anthony Rendon to load the bases.
Familia then walked pinch-hitter Trea Turner to force in a run.
Jacob deGrom originally was scheduled to start Friday, but was scratched hours before the game and pushed back until Saturday because of a stiff neck. The Mets moved Harvey up a day to pitch on regular rest.
Harvey was solid, allowing three runs on four hits over seven innings.
Michael Conforto led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, and Curtis Granderson blasted a game-tying, solo shot into the second deck in right field with two outs in the sixth inning. It was Granderson's first homer of the season.
Granderson, who entered the game hitless in his previous 16 at-bats, also had an RBI single in the fourth.
Harvey gave the Mets some distance after deGrom's injury became the latest to strike the Mets.
Lucas Duda (elbow) and Wilmer Flores (infection) were placed on the disabled list Friday, while Travis d'Arnaud (wrist), Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) and Asdrubal Cabrera (hamstring) also were ailing.
