An American beach with clear, warm water and soft sand has beaten out historically heavy hitters to be crowned the best beach for nude sunbathing.
Haulover Beach Park in Miami is a huge draw for tog-free sunseekers, partly due to its beautiful natural qualities and its reputation as a party hotspot.
While the beach welcomes those from all walks of life, it does have nude areas for those looking for a designated stretch of sand where they can ditch the swimwear.
With warm weather and plenty of sunshine all but guaranteed in Florida, there’s usually a number of beachgoers laying out on the sand as god intended.
"Great beach park that has an official nude section on the north side near life guard station 14," one happy visitor recently wrote on Tripadvisor.
"It is the most crowded section of the beach so you can't miss it. Although clothing is optional, almost everyone is naked because they're all here to enjoy the best nude beach in America."
In part due to such warm reactions from those who do make the trip to Haulover, it has topped Pour Moi's list of the best beaches for nude sunbathing in the world.
In second place is Praia de Tambaba, a Brazilian beach which provides a gorgeous haven for those looking to sunbathe without being restricted by tops or bottoms.
It’s known as a friendly place that is perfect for those looking for a more relaxing day at the beach and who want to unwind and connect with the natural world.
It is a beautiful beach is open to all, with a clothing optional policy for those who wish to sunbathe in the buff.
Following in third place globally, and the best European destination overall, is Red Beach in Crete.
The secluded beach offers naturists a slightly more private sunbathing experience, away from the masses. While it does requite travellers to either hike to the beach or take a boat ride, the stunning views mean it’s worth the effort.
The surreal red lava rocks are a stand out feature on the beach and offer shelter from the rays. There are also food options close by where you can indulge in some lunch while you momentarily take a break from soaking up the sun.
Spanish beaches are a great destination for nude sunbathers, and appear four times in the top 20, with beaches in mainland Spain, Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Formentera all featuring.
Playa de los Muertos, found on the mainland is the most popular Spanish nudist beach.
It is a bit difficult to access, situated as it is down a hilly path, but the snorkelling opportunities and rock formations it offers make the trek worth it.
