The relocated Takarazuka Hotel has opened in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, featuring a design that retains the elegance of the original hotel built in the Taisho era (1912-1926).

Located adjacent to the Takarazuka Grand Theater near Hankyu Takarazuka Station, the hotel provides audiences of the all-female Takarazuka Revue with a place to enjoy the afterglow of their visit to the renowned theater.

Former Tsuki Troupe leader Yurino Toka has been appointed as the manager of the hotel, which was designed based on a concept of a "continuing dream."

The original Takarazuka Hotel opened in 1926 in front of Hankyu Takarazuka Minami-guchi Station. The old hotel closed its doors at the end of March this year.

With five floors, 200 guest rooms, four restaurants, and four banquet halls, it is hoped the new hotel will become a landmark that will attract visitors to the city.

The hotel's 900-square-meter Hoju grand ballroom, in which chandeliers from the old hotel have been reused, can hold up to 1,200 people. It will be used to host dinner shows for the Takarazuka Revue, among other events.

Two of the hotel's guest rooms will feature pictures of the top stars of the troupe and props from performances that are being staged. As in the old hotel, the first-floor lobby is decorated with drapes from the Grand Theater. Guests can see costumes and other items from revue productions and photo panels in a gallery on the second floor.

Takarazuka Mayor Tomoko Nakagawa, Hankyu Co. Chairman Kazuo Sumi, among others, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony, while about 100 people who had lined up at the main entrance waited to enter the building and take commemorative photos.

The newly appointed manager Toka, who joined the Takarazuka Revue in 2000, was a talented performer known for playing female roles. As the head of the Tsuki troupe, she led about 70 members for about two years from 2016.

"There are similarities between gathering opinions to create a single production and opening a hotel with the employees working together," Toka said. "I would like to be the link between the theater and the hotel and provide the best possible hospitality."
