YUBARI, Hokkaido -- Famed animator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who designed the characters for the Mobile Suit Gundam series, has completed the promotional artwork for this year's Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival.

Yasuhiko's artwork features Cineger, the film festival's mascot, and Melon Kuma, the city's cuddly yurukyara promotional creature, doing battle against each other.

Yasuhiko, 72, is a native of Engaru, also in Hokkaido.

The festival, which runs from Sept. 18 to 22, has been set up as an online event to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
