In 1993, an arts and music festival, then named Rock above the Falls, was held in Lorne, Victoria, and attracted an unexpected 11,000 people. Now known as Falls Festival, the event has expanded to fall over four days and been replicated in Marion Bay, Tasmania and Byron Bay, New South Wales.
Each year the festival has grown, from hosting 16 acts to more than 60 artists this year. Alpine, Josh Pyke, Art vs Science, Birds of Toyko, Bloc Party, Jarryd James, Gang of Youths, The Wombats, Paul Kelly & Merri Soul Sessions, Rufus and Seth Sentry will play at this year’s Marion Bay festival.
