Fallout season 2: trailer, plot, cast, first-look pictures and everything we know so far about the show

Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell in Fallout season 2.

After its debut season proved to be one of Prime Video's biggest TV series ever, Fallout season 2 is officially on its way. In fact, you'll be able to watch it before the end of the year.

Based on the popular series of video games, Fallout season 1 introduced us to three survivors living in the post-apocalyptic USA. Through their individual adventures we learned more about the world of the show, and towards the end of the season they came together in pursuit of some important answers.

The show quickly became one of the most-watched shows on Prime Video, the streaming service it was created for, and we've got a guide on how to watch Fallout if you haven't seen it yet. Because of this, a second season was all but guaranteed.

Beyond confirmation of the renewal, though, what do we know about the return of the Fallout TV show? Well, here's everything we know so far about Fallout season 2...

Fallout season 2 release month

Prime Video has confirmed that Fallout season 2 will release in December of 2025.

We don't know an exact date just yet, or whether all episodes will release at once (like the first season) or staggered weekly (based on other shows, Amazon could switch to this for a second season). Hopefully exact information will follow.

Fallout season 2 trailer

Amazon has released a teaser trailer for Fallout season 2, which you can see below.

While teaser trailers tend to be half a minute long, this one is nearly three minutes in runtime, so it's basically a full trailer.

In a poster confirming Fallout season 2, all three leads of the first season were shown, implying that they'll be back.

This means that Ella Purnell should return as Vault Dweller turned Wasteland explorer Lucy, while Walton Goggins and Aaron Morten should be back as The Ghoul and Brotherhood of Steel paladin, Maximus.

First-look images also show that other characters of the cast are returning. Kyle MacLachlan is back as Lucy's father, Hank, who had been keeping his own dark secrets throughout the course of the series and Moises Arias returns to his role of Norm, Lucy's brother who's seemingly orchestrating something in a Vault and

When we have further casting information, we'll let you know.

Fallout season 2 plot

Fallout season 2 picks up after the events of the first season, and based on first-look information it sets to bring the action to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.

This spin on Las Vegas is the setting to video game Fallout: Las Vegas, and it's a city that's retained its namesake's gambling ways.

** Contains spoilers for Fallout season 1**

The first season of Fallout dealt us some pretty big reveals, especially in episode 8. So it's looking likely that the second season will expand upon what we saw.

Lucy learned the truth about her father Hank, and how he had been involved with Vault-Tec, who have revealed themselves to be quite the sinister organization. Hank himself travelled to New Vegas. As for Maximus, he's been promoted to Brotherhood Knight, so there are plenty of changes in store.

Elsewhere, we saw a glimpse of Robert House during a Vault-Tec meeting, who is an integral part of the video game Fallout: New Vegas, so this could set things up for season 2 very nicely.
