'Falling further behind!' - Arsenal supporters rage as West Ham complete exciting €27m transfer

Confirmation of Pablo Fornals' West Ham United transfer hasn't gone down too well with some Arsenal supporters.

At midday on Friday the 23-year-old midfielder officially completed his move from Villarreal to east London, putting pen-to-paper on a five-year contract for a fee believed to be in the region of €27m.

How the Spaniard gets on in the Premier League will certainly be of interest to many, including the Gunners.

Fornals had previously been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Equally comfortable in a deeper central midfield role or further up field in the number 10 role or being used on the right flank, Fornals certainly ticks all the requirements to play for the north London outfit and there have been attempts to sign him in the past.

According to Marca, former Arsenal manager  Arsene Wenger  had regularly sent scouts to keep an eye on the young Spanish star, but missed on Fornals' signature in the summer of 2017 when he headed for Villarreal.

Then it was reported in the Spanish press that Gunners' interest was reignited ahead of the 2019 January transfer window, while there was also talk of him being a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

But while Fornals will be playing his football in the capital next season, it will be at the London Stadium rather than the Emirates and that's sparked a huge reaction amongst Gunners fans on social media.

With funds tight, many believe Fornals would have been an astute signing and are gutted at missing out on his signature.
