Fallen branches cause power failures at Paisley train station

A power failure is causing delays at Paisley Gilmour Street station.

Train passengers are being told to expect delays from the railway station due to branches disrupting the power to the overhead lines between the station and Johnstone.

Work has been carried out to fix the issue on the overhead lines, but delays are still expected due to the earlier disruption.

Scotrail confirmed at 9am this morning that a failure of the electricity supply had been identified.

Bosses expect disruption to a number of services until at least 12pm.

Posting on Twitter, a spokesman from ScotRail said: "Staff have found tree branches on the overhead wires, which have now been removed safely.

"It is now safe to operate our train services again through this section.

"Service will still face delays/alterations due to staff and units being out of place.
