Fall in COVID-19 infection rate in Perth and Kinross shows some sign of slowing

The drop in the Perth and Kinross COVID-19 infection rate is showing signs of slowing - but is still heading in the right direction.

According to the most recent figures from Public Health Scotland, the weekly infection rate per 100,000 people was 96.7 per 100,000 on December 3, with 147 positive tests in that period.

Enhanced measures brought in after COVID-19 outbreak at care home

The week before there had been 149 positive tests at a rate of 98.1 per 100,000 people.

However, the percentage of positive tests has once again fallen below five per cent.

In comparison, the week from November 19 to 26 saw a fall in the infection rate from 114.5 to 98.1.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will reveal if Perth and Kinross will change coronavirus levels from Friday at her weekly update on Tuesday, December 8.

The latest figures make a move out of level three to two appear unlikely.
