After two months of decline, the fall of coronavirus cases in Lanarkshire has tailed off.
Case numbers in the county are at their lowest since September but for the last three weeks, confirmed numbers have been in the mid 600s.
The Scottish Government today (Monday, March 22) confirmed there had been a further 54 positive tests across the region yesterday.
As a result, there were 654 new coronavirus cases in the county last week - 1.3 per cent less than the previous week.
Although case numbers are usually lower over the weekend, yesterday was the second lowest daily figure of 2021 and the lowest since March 1.
Last week was also the second consecutive week that daily cases averaged less than 100 - the first time that has happened since September.
Overall, Covid-19 cases in Lanarkshire are now down by 72 per cent since the new year peak in the week beginning January 4, when 2,353 were confirmed.
In total, 38,872 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lanarkshire and 1,298 people have died after testing positive.
Lanarkshire has been the worst affected region in Scotland by coronavirus with 5,872.8 cases and 196.1 deaths for every 100,000 residents.
Across the region, 280,838 people - 51.7 per cent of the population - have received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccination and 21,236 of them - 3.9 per cent of the population - have received both doses.
