Falkirk Council leader Cecil Meiklejohn has confirmed that the town stands ready to welcome Ukrainian refugees.
Cllr Meiklejohn took to her official Facebook page to share the announcement on the evening of Sunday, March 20.
She wrote: "I have had a number of people contact me asking how they can offer support to Ukrainian families and what is happening in Falkirk.
"Many people have already registered offering space within their homes for those fleeing for their lives in this barbaric and unjust conflict and thanks to them for their generosity.
"I do want to give you assurance that Falkirk stands ready."
It comes as Russia's unprovoked invasion into the Eastern European country causes at least 10 million people to be displaced.
The councillor explained that a few months ago, the Falkirk Council Executive agreed to make their Resettlement Officers permanent.
This means that the town will now have the ability to create resources and support refugees who choose to make Falkirk their homes.
The council have also been working with their Health and Social Care Partnership, registered social landlords and support groups.
They have also been working with the Scottish Refugee Council and other third sector organisations.
The Scottish Government has agreed to be a super sponsor with a commitment for around 3,000 refugees.
Cllr Meiklejohn added: "We are currently awaiting guidance from Government on how they intend to distribute refugees throughout Scotland and very soon hope to be able to offer a safe place, housing and a future for as long as they want or need to those who come to us from Ukraine."
